Doctor Who vs The Bill [Jul. 13th, 2007|03:11 pm]
Six Degrees of Doctor Who

As befits the owner of a time-travelling police box, you'd expect some sort of crossover between these two long-running shows.
The Bill is a police procedural, set in London's east end guvnor.

In 1995, a young David Tennant played a psycho who'd kidnapped his girlfriend and played a cat-and-mouse game with DI Deakin, in the episode "Deadline" youknowhattube linky to a scene.

Sylvester McCoy has popped up twice, in 2002 he played a mysterious hole digger trying to find stolen jewelry. In 2006, he helped his son out on a blag and promptly got nicked.

Freema Agyemen has twice appeared, in 2004 and 2006.

There's been plenty of traffic going the other way, with TB stalwart, Graham Cole (PC Tony Stamp) chalking up many DW appearances when he was an extra:
'Shada' 1979
'The Leisure Hive' 1980
'Full Circle' 1980
'The Keeper of Traken' 1980
'Kinda' 1981
'Earthshock' 1981
'Time-flight' 1982
'The 5 Doctors' 1983
'The Twin Dilemma' 1984

Other TB regulars to make appearances are:
Roland Oliver 'The Keeper of Traken' 1980
Jeff Stewart 'Kinda' 1981
Simon Rouse 'Kinda' 1982
Ben Roberts 'Ressurection of the Daleks' 1984
Simon Slater 'Terror of the Vervoids' 1986
Gillian Taylforth 'Dimension in Time' 1993
Ron Donachie 'Tooth and Claw' 2006
Moira Brady 'Love and Monsters' 2006
Raji James 'Rise of the Cybermen' 2006
Rene Zagger 'Utopia' 2007

Jonathan Creek [Jul. 12th, 2007|08:49 pm]

OK, everyone else probably knows this by now, but bear with me, as series 1 of Jonathan Creek has only recently been released on DVD in North America. The first story of series 1 guest stars not only Anthony Stewart Head ("School Reunion") but a former Doctor as well in the form of Colin Baker. Colin's off-screen voiceover opens the story, and I almost squeed myself when I realized whose voice it was.

Has anyone seen any of the quasi-Who BBV videos of The Stranger. I'm wondering if it's worth trying to track them down. They're definitely a Who's Who of Who, but I never see people talking about them, so I wonder if they're disappointing.

Okay, so I actually did rent Shark Attack 3: Megaladon just because John Barrowman was in it. And just because you mentioned that god-awful movie, I am joining this community! So hello, it's good to know that I'm not alone. (Come on, admit it, you all watched it too!)

Happy birthday, John Simm!

John Simm

To celebrate, perhaps I'll finally get around to watching him in "The Knight's Tale" episode of The Canterbury Tales.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm waiting anxiously for BBC/Warner Bros. to release Life on Mars on DVD in the U.S., after seeing John Simm in Doctor Who. And now I read that former Spooks (a.k.a. MI-5) star Keeley Hawes has been cast to star in the Life on Mars sequel series. This makes me very happy indeed.
