Icon love

You ever seen Spaced? It got a name-check in the party episode, season 1

Tripods, that would be interesting to see how they would play that now.

Re: Icon love BACK AT YA!

Actually, no. I really should see Spaced, since I've been told that it "speaks to my kind". Heh.

I think one reason why I want to see Tripods come back is because it wasn't completed! I mean, wtf?

Oh, and I learned this little gem from Wikipedia:
Disney has held the rights to The Tripods since 1997. It has been reported that a film version is in pre-production with Australian-born director Gregor Jordan signed on to rewrite and direct for Walt Disney's Touchstone Pictures label.

But that bit is from 2005, so who knows how accurate that bit of news is.

You know the special effects would be cool.

I haven't seen Survivors, so I think I need to see if I can find that somewhere to dig it up. I loved Blakes 7 as a kid, so I'm concerned about it being remade. It was a good series with great performances -- not sure how to make it better other than better special effects.

Not sure how I feel about Sapphire and Steel. Bits of it are interesting, but last time I watched it, it was a little slow and didn't make sense to me. I think I need to give it another go.

Re: Icon love BACK AT YA!

Blakes 7. I liked season 1 and 2 and 3 wasn't bad, but two wpisodes into season 4 and I'm not surprised they cancelled it's dog-eared arse. I think it could make a very good show, and it wouldn't take away any of my appreciation of the old series. They could make it as hard-hitting and relevant as the Battlestar Galactica Reboot.

Survivors. I don't know, I haven't seen the original series. I've seen the DVDs in the library so I might give it a go. Though they would have to have a different spin on it, the idea has already been done in 28 days later etc. Maybe because people get to care about the characters as they develop, maybe that might make the difference.

awwww man, Disney version of Tripods. Hmmmn, not sure how that could work. Be interesting if someone like Chris Carter took it on, that would add a few layers to the story...

Re: Icon love BACK AT YA!

It's funny, I've described Survivors to people as a "hippie 28 Days Later in the 70's with no infected." It did drag at spots, and the transition from series one to series two felt a lot like a cheat, but there were some great characters on the show.

Re: Icon love BACK AT YA!

Regarding B7, I think your wish is granted.

You can go to http://www.scifiuk.com/blakes7/ for a limited time to see a web cast of their new audio series, and http://blakes7.com for the site of B7 Media who are doing it all.

The update they're doing is exactly in line with your thought: "hard-hitting and relevant as the Battlestar Galactica Reboot." There are already two audio CDs released in the series, a third due in a month's time, and plans already on the table for a dozen or more beyond that.

This is also, essentially, a TV production company, and I've been told if the audios are a success, there will be serious thought to getting this back on the air as a series. [It's also one good reason the UK SciFI Channel is involved with the project.]

The Tomorrow People.

I never saw the original, but caught the 90's remake on Nickeloden and LOVED it. It needs another chance!

One show I'd like to see updated is called The Changes, set in some sort of post-apocalyptic England. The theme tune always freaked me out (in a good way, of course!)

S&S, yes please! The audios have been incredible - I'd love to see Warner and Harker on the screen together.

I just started watching the show (I've only seen the first Assignment) and I'm really liking it! I haven't heard the audios yet, but I think I am going to search them out when I am done watching the series. I really liked the actress who is doing the voice for Sapphire while she was on Ultraviolet.
